PWP DOES IT AGAIN
MAJOR SNOW EXPERIENCE FOR THE CHILDREN OF SINGLE PARENT FAMILIES & PWP MEMBERS
Every June Long week-end we have a major week-end camp to the snow country. It is often the first time some of the children and even parents have seen snow – played in snow and for some learnt to snow ski or snowboard. We left on a luxury coach on the Friday night – some new movies on board to entertain us on the long journey to Jindabyne for our lodge accommodation – great facilities – nicely heated – TV & DVD, pool and table tennis tables and a huge mob of kangaroos on the property. Budget ski gear hire at the lodge helped our budgets. Saturday and Sunday to the snow at Perisher Valley – enough snow for play, snowman or snowlady making, the odd snow ball flying through the air and those mysterious little snow angels kept appearing around the edges of the snow field. It was the official opening of the ski season and to celebrate there is plenty of live entertainment in side the shopping center and also a sound stage outside at the edge of the snow fields. Nothing like skiing down to the sound of a live rock or soul band. Even some unusual dance moves from the beginners on the snow – and I think it was break dancing on the snow – anyway no one got hurt. A few took the special trip to the exclusive Charlottes Pass village for lunch at the historical Inn and chairlift ride to the top on Sunday. Glorious weather. Monday off to the charming Thredbo Village – some fun at the Institute of Sports Alpine Training Centre – what snow country and the kids were in swimmers in the heated pool and on the great water slide? – even some action in the well appointed gym and on the indoor basket ball courts. Home again with more on board movie entertainment and a dinner stop near the giant Marino at Goulburn. Even the few adults without their kids had fun – but a new life long memory for the children and parents. Members and their children from ALL PWP branches were represented on the trip. Thanks to the Hills Parents Without Partners for sponsoring this annual event. A huge thanks to our Life Members Brett & Yo for organizing everything for us and the bus driver for his safe driving. Ross & Paul F.
PS Did I mention the great dinner and thanks to all the parents who chipped in to help on the week-end – in the true spirit of PWP as a peer support and self help group.

PWP’s CHARITABLE OUTREACH
The children of single parent families and our PWP members – are themselves not PWP members BUT it is the charitable outreach function of all Parents Without Partners branches, state bodies around the world to provide positive experiences for the children of single parent families.
We do this by ensuring there are family/children’s activities every week, and in the years program we have special outings, major excursions and some school holiday camps for the children to look forward to in the future.
We have a creative arts awards program called FITAP (Family Individual Talent Awards Program) that has branch state, national and even international levels of awards that is aimed to boost the self esteem of the children (and parents who also can participate). Certificates and trophies awarded in age grouped judging – many different categories for your creative interests.
We fund raise to partly subsidise the children’s activities we promote every week-end and for the special outings, excursions, week-ends away and school holiday camps, as well as the special visit from Santa every year.
We ARE NOT government funded, receive no grants or sponsorships – this all done from fund raising from single parents who can not afford much – so we need your help with purchasing the raffle tickets sold at functions – and you have a chance to win something nice to take home as well.

Child Support News - Parenting Plans
To make sure we have the same information about care from both parents and can calculate child support payments correctly, we recommend you have one of the following in place:
- a parenting plan or written agreement
- an oral care agreement with the other parent about the level of care
- a court order about care, supplied to CSA.
What are parenting plans?
Parenting plans are written agreements made between parents that set out parenting arrangements for children.
Parenting plans can include an agreement about the amount of time your children will be in each parent's care. Parenting plans can also cover other parenting issues such as education.
A parenting plan:
- is made between parents often with the help of Family Relationship Centres or in mediation
- doesn't need to spell out the exact arrangements for every night in the year
- is the best way for parents who have significant and regular daytime care to have it recognised in their assessment.
The CSA can base care levels in your child support assessment on a parenting plan if you supply a copy of it to us. If the care arrangements change, we recommend you try to make a new parenting plan. Go to www.familyrelationships.gov.au or call 1800 050 321 for more information about parenting plans.
Non-parent carers can make a written care agreement with the parents of children in their care. A written agreement is treated in the same way as a parenting plan when determining the percentage of care for child support purposes.
What are oral agreements?
An oral agreement can be made between parents or non-parent carers for the care of children. Oral agreements can be used to determine levels of care even where there is a court order, parenting plan, or written agreement, so long as both parties agree with the arrangements.
If one party no longer agrees with an oral agreement and there is a parenting plan, written agreement or court order registered with CSA, the care level used in the assessment will usually be what is stated in your written agreement, order or plan. Oral agreements are a good option for parents trying out new care arrangements before they make a new parenting plan. Like parenting plans, agreements don't need to spell out every night of the year - for example, parents can agree they each have 50 per cent care.
Court orders
If there's a court order that outlines your care levels, a child support assessment will generally be based on the order unless both parents agree to change it, for example by parenting plan or oral agreement. CSA has no legal ability to enforce levels of care specified in court orders. If orders are contravened, either parent may seek legal advice, attend family dispute resolution or apply to the Family Law Courts.

Free Discounts and Rewards – (From a PWP Member)
At no cost, I'd rather earn points by doing online surveys, which I earn points to redeem a cash shopping card (Coles/Meyer, Westfield) or free movie tickets etc. These online survey companies post me the Tickets or Cards which can be worth $20, $30, $40, depending on how many points I earn.
You don't have to pay for a book or a subscription to get these freebies.
See below some of the many Online Surveys for Australians to use, most to earn points for $$, or some just to be in their lottery prize draw.
Or I can go to: http://www.hotdockets.com.au/ - online and print out discount vouchers for what and where I want to shop.
You don't even need to have a real shopping docket for these discount vouchers, they're completely free.
Or I can also print out my own Warringah Mall shopping vouchers, you just need to join their VIP Club, free of course http://www.warringahmall.com.au/mypage/offers.amx - Warringah Mall is owned by "AMP Capital", and they're is just around the corner from me here in Brookvale.
Right now, I have printed, 2 vouchers to use at WM Subway, valid to 10th June, and 2 vouchers for a WM hairdresser Hair@AnthonyR, valid to 30th June. I don't have to buy a voucher book, these are free. And I'm sure people can find other shopping centres in their own areas that have a website with online printable discount shopping vouchers similar to above.
So that's the way I choose to get my discounts, and its all free.
It may take up some of your spare time (3 - 20 mins. each) in the evenings to complete their questionnaires to qualify for your points.

PWP PARENTS REMINDER
We would like to remind our PWP parents that you are responsible for the supervision and well-being of your children at all times during a PWP function, outing or excursion including the school holiday camps. PWP being a volunteer association is NOT able to and does not have the resources, accreditation, screening, licensing or insurance arrangements for assuming child or adolescent care responsibilities. Parents need to be observant where their children are at all times. You are also responsible for the good conduct and behaviour of your children. You need to assess the risks of some activities in relation to the child’s age and development. If your child is accompanied by another parent and their children then this is a personal arrangement between the two parents, and other parents or committee members can not be expected to assume responsibility. We need to publish this even though we know most people already understand this.
